Fish Tycoon is a casual game created and developed by Last Day of Work. One of the top-selling downloadable games of 2004, 2005, and 2006, Fish Tycoon was later ported to cell phone, retail, and Nintendo DS.

    Game Storyline

Players take on the role of a fish store owner who must breed and care for hundreds of different kinds of exotic fish, all the while attempting to keep the fish store economically viable long enough to achieve the ultimate objective: breeding The Seven Magic Fish.

    Gameplay

Players start with only a small selection of fish, some money, and a fish tank. Money is earned by selling fish. With this additional supplies, medicine, and special chemicals are available to be bought, along with the options of researching environments, food, and advertisement (three levels for each) for your fish shop. Although the game runs in real time, it can be paused - normally the life in the aquarium(s) runs even when you exit the game or turn off your computer.

    Breeding Fish

There are 441 fish to discover within the game. Each breed of fish is assigned a value from 1 to 21, as well as each fin type.

To breed fish, put a fish in the isolation tank, then put another fish to it. The one in the isolation tank will become pregnant, and have baby fish within a few fish years. Only adult fish can breed. When you breed two types of fish, the breed and fin type are averaged, resulting in a new fish. See this Fish Tycoon Breeding Chart for the complete list of fish and fin types, along with an application and excel sheet to help you breed your fish.
